📞 Phone-a-Poem at TPF 2025
We’re thrilled to announce that Phone-a-Poem will be featured as part of the Tasmanian Poetry Festival 2025, and will be on display at QVMAG Museum in the lead-up to the festival.
Phone-a-Poem is inspired by the legendary Dial-a-Poem project launched by John Giorno in New York in 1968, which gave millions of people the chance to hear recorded poems by simply picking up the phone—instantly and free of charge. Over six decades, Dial-a-Poem has evolved in many forms, expanding the reach of poetry and redefining who can be considered a poet. In Giorno’s words:
“Poetry is not, should not, cannot be confined to the printed word.”
We extend our warm thanks to Red Room Poetry for providing this incredible installation and helping us bring poetry to the public in new and unexpected ways.
The Phone a poem interactive display will be in the foyer of QVMAG Museum, Inveresk, Launceston from Oct 7 – Until Oct 13.
