Always was, Always will be

The Tasmanian Poetry Festival acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather, create, and celebrate — the Palawa people of Lutruwita.

We pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. We recognise the enduring connection of First Nations peoples to Country, culture, and story.

We honour the power of poetry as a vessel for truth-telling, healing, and cultural expression, and commit to amplifying Indigenous voices as an essential part of our festival and broader literary community.

Always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
