THE SLAM TRAM at TPF 2025
You’ll be blown away by some of the local slam (spoken word) poets we have organised to entertain you on our FREE hop on-hop off slam tram at Inveresk Precinct.
Slam Poetry is a form of spoken-word performance poetry that combines theatrical elements with writing, competition, and often audience participation. Slam poetry is often considered the most accessible type of poetry due to the use of simple, powerful language makes it relatable and engaging for a wide range of people, challenging its perception as an elite art form. Its essence lies in bringing poetry out of academic spaces and onto stages where anyone can participate, express themselves, and connect with others through spoken word.
At Saturday lunchtime 12 midday the slam tram will be leaving the station. So make sure you are there to hop aboard!
If you want to attend this free event consider also supporting the Poetry Festival by buying a ticket to one of the other Saturday events, or another event during the festival. You can browse all tickets on try booking here.
The Tasmanian Poetry Festival is happening from Friday Oct 10-Sunday Oct 12 at various venues across Launceston. The “festival proper” which runs all day Saturday and Sunday will be held at QVMag , Inveresk precinct, Launceston.
