The Launceston Poetry Cup is a poetry performance event, held as part of the annual Tasmanian Poetry Festival, where poets perform original poems in one minute or less to a hooted deadline. The winner is chosen by the loudest, most enthusiastic audience response, rather than traditional judging. The winner receives a small cup, and their name is engraved on a larger, perpetual Launceston Poetry Cup.

The Tasmanian Poetry Festival is happening from Friday Oct 10-Sunday Oct 12 at various venues across Launceston. The “festival proper” which runs all day Saturday and Sunday will be held at QVMag , Inveresk precinct, Launceston.
